Palcoyo Mountain

Tour duration: Full day

Palccoyo Mountain is an impressive natural formation that has three rainbow mountains to appreciate. Adding to the attraction there is an imposing stone forest on the way and a simple access road with a slight inclination of the mountains, it is a good alternative to the rainbow mountain of Vinincunca.

DESCRIPTION:

Palccoyo Mountain is located 137 km south Cusco city, approximately three and a half hours away.

The route we take to reach Palccoyo Mountain is marked by characteristic towns of the Peruvian Andes, immersed in a landscape of mountains with valleys full of farming fields. After two hours drive, before reaching Combapata bridge (3,475 meters above sea level), we turn left side road towards Palccoyo Mountain, for an hour and a half more. This road is going through several picturesque towns, dedicated to agriculture and breeding of alpacas.

The adventure begins from the checkpoint at 4,830 meters above sea level. The road presents unique landscapes due to the high elevation, surrounded by snow-capped mountains such as Ausangate (6,384 meters above sea level). We pass through a stone forest until reaching the lookout point of the three rainbow mountains (4,879 meters above sea level), making the route a very accessible one, not hard hike like in vinincunca, due to the slight inclination of the mountain trail.
