Itinerary

The 7 Lakes of Ausangate Full Day offers one of the most impressive high-Andean hiking experiences in Cusco, combining colorful glacial lakes, extensive wetlands, snow-capped mountains and traditional Andean communities.

The route takes place in the surroundings of Ausangate, one of the most important sacred mountains, or Apus, in the Andean worldview. Its imposing snow-capped peak dominates the landscape and gives the area great natural and spiritual significance.

During the hike, travelers cross high-altitude wetlands and mountain landscapes inhabited by llamas, alpacas and vicuñas. The crystal-clear lakes display striking turquoise, green and blue tones created by minerals carried in the glacial meltwater from the surrounding mountains.

Among the lakes explicitly mentioned in the route are Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha and Qomercocha. The circuit is especially attractive for travelers interested in nature, adventure and Andean landscape photography.

The journey begins and ends in the community of Pacchanta, located at 4,300 meters above sea level, with magnificent views of the snow-capped Ausangate mountain.
