Q´eswachaca and four lagoons

Tour duration: Full day

This excursion includes the visit of Q’eswachaca, the last Inca swaying bridge, manufactured with Ichu (a grass from the highlands, used as fodder for the Andean camelids) and repaired by local dwellers in an annual ceremony, declared by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. Along the way, you can see beautiful landscapes, marked by the presence of four impressive lagoons (Pomacanchi, Acopía, Asnacocha and Pampamarca), and located contiguous one another.

DESCRIPTION:

After picking you up, the vehicle takes us to the southern part of the city, along the banks of Vilcanota river, towards the town of Cusipata (3,310 m. /10,859 ft.), where a comforting breakfast will be waiting.

During the trip, we will be surrounded by a landscape of rolling mountains with picturesque towns, characteristic of the Peruvian Andes. We go to the town of Pomacanchi (3,678 m. /3,678 ft.), on our way we will observe the four lagoons: Pomacanchi (3,678 m. /3,678 ft.), Acopía (3,712 m. /12,178 ft.), Asnacocha (3,943 m. /12,936 ft.) and Pampamarca (3,810 m. /12500 ft.) The lagoons are habitat of species of wild fauna and residence of endemic and migratory birds.

After approximately 2 hours drive, we arrive in Quehue district, where our main objective is located, the Inca bridge of Q’eswachaca (3,715 m. /12,188 ft.) The impressive Inca bridge has 28 m. /92 ft. a length, by 1.20 m. /3.94 ft. wide; annually remade by its people, for that fact it was declared intangible cultural heritage.
